Hinton Heating are fully qualified members of CORGI and ARGI, and are certified by CITB in unvented Hot water systems.

Corgi is the national gas safety watchdog in the UK, and their mission is to lead in standards of safety which plays a part in creating a more certain world.

Gas installers and engineers have to satisfy a minimum training requirement before they can be Corgi registered and in practice most will be significantly well above that minimum. The training and assessments ensure not only expertise in technical know-how of specific appliances, but also, and perhaps more importantly, expertise in gas safety. All assessments have to be renewed every 5 years which ensures that engineers are kept aware of the ever changing standards and regulations.

It is not only illegal for non-Corgi people to work with gas, it is also highly dangerous. Statistics have shown that a significant proportion of such work is not to regulations, and potentially unsafe.

Always employ a Corgi registered engineer with the appropriate training and credentials for any gas work you require, as they will ensure that your appliances meet all the safety and building regulations and that you have all the necessary documentation you will need if you decide to sell your house.

To confirm whether an engineer is qualified to handle your work, ask to see their ID card and examine the details on the reverse. To protect the general public, corgi engineers are

  • Issued with and ID card which should be shown when requested.
  • Required to gain competency certificates in areas of gas work they do.
  • Required to update their proof of competence regularly.
  • Subject to regular work inspections carried out by CORGI Inspectors

CITB is the National training organisation for construction in the UK, Hinton Heating have successfully completed unvented hot water training with them.

Connection of Unvented Hot Water Storage Systems (UHWSS) to the cold water mains has been allowed in the UK since 1989. These systems are radically different to traditional vented installations, particularly in terms of safety devices. The Building Regulations Approved Document G3 states that operatives who work with UHWSS must be competent in the installation and commissioning of such systems.
